Legacy Project Director

Published date: 2025/08/14
  • Location: New York City, New York, United States

Pay rate: $40-60/per hr (overtime, there is the opportunity for this rate to increase)

Renowned fine artist and author, Denise Green, has a position open for a Legacy Project Director. Following her decades long career, Ms. Green has just deposited her personal archives to NYU Fales Library and The National Art Archive of the AGNSW in Sydney, Australia. She is currently working with an estate attorney to devise a long-term strategy for the future of her body of work.

Ms. Green was an integral member of the New Image Painting movement and has had works shown in the Guggenheim, Whitney, MoMa, Hirshhorn, and countless other museums and galleries in Europe and Australia. She has also published two books, The Artist’s Odyssey and Metonymy in Contemporary Art: A New Paradigm.

Ms. Green is ideally seeking someone with previous experience in managing artists’ legacies and who is knowledgeable and passionate about fine art. This position will be responsible for carrying on the legacy of her work—this includes, managing works in storage, maintaining a space that will house the works, as well as organizing sales, gifts, and donations. This will be an ongoing project with fluctuations from year to year in work load. And this position will be working closely in collaboration with the trustee of the estate, the estate attorney, and the estate’s financial planner.

For now, the position requires three six-hour workdays a week. (However, the pay rate and schedule will fluctuate down the road.) Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop a deep understanding of my body of work throughout my career, so you can become a knowledgeable spokesperson for it and eventually an authority
  • Caring for drawings on paper
  • Engage with institutions who have exhibited and acquired my work
  • Liaise with clients and institutions on behalf of the trust
  • Help set up installations for client viewings
  • Initiate opportunities to have the work seen and publicized
  • Compile a checklist of my works that are in storage
  • Assist with emails
  • Copy & scan documents and manage general administrative tasks to keep things organized
How to apply

Please send a cover letter, resume, and two references.
